Warm brown ink, made in small batches in partnership with the squirrels in our backyard. Our yard has black walnut trees, and the squirrels crack the nuts. We grab the hulls to ferment, boil, and bottle.

The ink is bottled in dark amber glass, which reduces sunlight damage to the ink. Glass is required to store walnut ink because of the high acidic content which will eat plastic.

Ingredients: walnuts, water, alcohol, clove oil.

The bottles have to be packaged in a solid box with padding, so heads-up that the shipping for this item will be higher than my small paper goods.

Some notes: The ink isn't technically lightfast. Finished pieces should be displayed in a UV protected frame, just to be on the safe side. The ink stains skin and clothing intensely. If you are allergic to walnuts, or the other ingredients in the ink (alcohol and clove oil), it can potentially cause mild skin irritation . Be careful if you have sensitive skin and wash any ink off with soap and water.
